We have decided to make some small changes to our menu but don't panic! A few prices have gone up but some have also gone down - they are our first price changes for over 2 years. The biggest change is the price of the meal deal which we have had to put up to £2.50. Internally we have had to rethink the dispense of sauces due to an epidemic number of thefts! Now you get your ketchup from a central dispenser and if you need mayo/vinegar/brown then just ask your server and they will give you some sachets. Finally we are focussing on speed so we have decided to give lattes and Cappuccinos the elbow and just do fresh and tasty filter coffee that you can help yourself to and drink as much of it as you want. Download the new menu from the home page.

I'm not going to lie. I don't like pumpkins. So it is not surprising that for most of my life I found the idea of eating a pie made out of this oversized squash quite unappealing. However, a few years back, in the company of some North American friends I was forced to try it. I plucked up the courage and took a proper bite - the crunch of the short crust pastry combined with the sweet and spicy contents was delicious. Not a whiff of pumpkin. Now i'm addicted and look forward to Thanksgiving every year so that I can stuff my face with sweet, sweet pie. I urge you to do the same and give it a go.(This Thanksgiving Wannaburger is offering you the chance to try one of our specially baked mini Pumpkin Pies. They are 50p with all proceeds going to The Teenage Cancer Trust. If you're already a convert spend £5 and eat 10)

MSN "Gourmet" Burger Trip

So the Burger Trip guys came up and visited us and then gave us their verdict. We wanted to publish our response not so much because they bagged us but because when it came to Wannaburger they really missed the point!http://him.uk.msn.com/time-off/him-readers-rate-britain's-best-burgersSo look guys Wannaburger isn't basically fast food - IT IS FAST FOOD! It is defined in its sector by the fact that you order and pay at the counter AND you collect your food. There is no table service. When @burgertrip talks about fast food it is referring to McDonalds and Burger King because that is all the poor British public know. And of course Wannaburger is a restaurant experience - a quick service restaurant experience. The restaurant industry encompasses a multitude of different styles of cuisines and service styles and to say that Wannaburger is not a restaurant experience demonstates a certain naivity abvout the industry. @burgertrip obviously feels that a restaurant requires waiters, plates, cutlery etc but we cater for a different dining experience where the factors affecting people's decision to dine with us are time, budget, and quality of product. @burgertrip ordered chilli sauce to a man together with guacamole, fried eggs and one even added extra bacon to a double bacon cheeseburger. Basically you treated fast food style burgers like gourmet burgers and got into a bit of a mess. Our regular customers know that our burgers are not designed to be piled high with messy toppings and that is why the vast majority order cheese burgers or bacon cheese burgers. Our buns are baked fresh every day. They are awesome. They would not be suitable for a "Gourmet" burger but are small, tasty, soft but robust and ideal for the fast food style burger. With regards to the scoring sustem - I don't think the range of toppings is important for our product. That is gourmet burger territory and even if it is worth bringing into the scoring system then it is still too heavily weighted - the bun is way more important. I would also like to question the value to volume ratio. Our classic hamburger (3oz) is £2.95. You can have a double (6oz) for £3.95, a triple for £5.15 and a quadruple (12oz) for £6.35. This is top quality certified Scotch Beef. Worse value than Bar Boulud? Seriously?Sorry to get on the defensive guys but burgers are more than just a trip for us!

Team Wannaburger completed their first fundraising mission completing the Meadows Marathon in record time. Yes all the members of the team achieved PB's mainly because it was the first time any of them had ever run that far. Even the boss who let's face it is not in great shape managed to complete the run despite "feeling a bit demoralised when a dog and two pigs overtook me at the 1km mark."Burgers and beers were all consumed after the race which made everyone feel a lot happier. There was even talk of a 10K but this may have been the beer talking. Watch this space....With over £300 pledged to The Cystic Fibrosis Trust a big thanks goes to all our sponsors and if you still feel inclined to part with a little bit of cash for a very worthy cause then please see below.

Burger Styles

There are many different types and styles of hamburger. While I don't feel the need to go into the marvellous detail outlined at www.aht.seriouseats.com I do feel the need to make a couple of distinctions.
The Fast Food Burger: I think we all know what this comprises #McDonalds #crap
The Fast Food Style Burger:This can be any smallish burger that can be cooked quickly and easily picked up and eaten with the hands. The patties are generally about 3 to 4oz and can be doubled up. What distinguishes these burgers from the fast food burgers from which they are derived is usually the preparation, the ingredients or both. These burgers are made from great quality fresh ingredients, the patties are never frozen and are cooked to order. This is what we now serve at Wannaburger.
Gastropub Burgers: These are usually fairly large - a 7 or 8oz patty would be the norm. The ingredients will be of a good quality, fresh and cooked to order. The large bun - probably sourdough, coupled with additional toppings may mean that cutlery is required. The burger will take 15-20 minutes to cook and will be served on a plate. If this is what you are after then please try one of our sister restaurants - The Cambridge Bar or The Caley Sample Room.
Gourmet (or as AHT put it "Fancypants") Burgers: These are similar to pub burgers but there is usually a huge range of different and exotic toppings. Price is relevant - think £7 for a cheeseburger with no sides.
There is a definite perception in the UK that no burger served in the fast food style can be anything other than rubbish. If it isn't the size of a house and served on a china plate then you are as well to be in McDonalds. Come on! Burgers were designed to be eaten by hand and it is the quality and make up of the ingredients that makes a good burger not the size or how it is presented. Fast Food Style Burgers offer people a quality alternative to the fast food junk - it's not about being pretentious or upmarket it's about doing something properly.

We have carried out a brand new refurbishment of our West End restaurant so we can bring you burgers that are even more delicious, even faster and even better value than before!
Faced with increasing costs the last thing we wanted to do to you was put our prices up. So we've decided to break from the norm and change things round a bit, allowing us to actually offer you greater value while still maintaining our dedication to the quality of our products.

So what have we done?
Well we have put the onus on you to order and collect your food but in a way that is a little different. Some of the burgers have been re-designed to enable us to offer better value portions and to get the food out to you in double quick time allowing you to have a faster, slicker and more enjoyable experience whilst still giving you time to enjoy the BIG burger experience!
We've also thought of the environment as well, sacked the dish washer and discovered a lovely London based Bio-Packaging company to package our food in meaning everything can now be either composted or recycled.
So come on down, get involved, be part of the change!
